Course Description
This comprehensive Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) Level I course is designed for entry-level NDT technicians seeking certification in accordance with NAS 410 and ANSI/ASNT CP-105-2024. Delivered across 15 modules and 30 lessons, this course provides a thorough foundation in the principles, equipment, materials, and techniques required to perform MT inspections under the direct supervision of a certified Level II or Level III technician.
Students will develop a working understanding of magnetic field theory, circular and longitudinal magnetization, wet and dry inspection materials, demagnetization principles, equipment selection, and the interpretation and documentation of MT indications. The course also covers industry-specific codes and standards including ASTM E1444 and aerospace applications under NAS 410.
Upon completion, students will be prepared to sit for their MT Level I certification examination and perform magnetic particle inspections confidently in aerospace, manufacturing, and general industry environments.
Prerequisites: Basic math skills and a general understanding of manufacturing processes are recommended but not required.
"TO 33B-1-1 available for download in Lesson 1 is a publicly available U.S. Government technical manual. AMS Level 3 is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, or U.S. Army."
